(11 Sep 2017) Dutch King Willem-Alexander visited St. Maarten Monday to see firsthand the devastation wreaked by Hurricane Irma on the tiny Caribbean territory. He also wanted to express gratitude to relief workers struggling to deliver aid and start the process of rebuilding shattered communities. The king toured the badly damaged Princess Juliana International Airport - named for his grandmother - that has become a vital hub for flights bringing in relief supplies like water and food as well as a gathering point for tourists and residents waiting to leave the island in the aftermath of last week's direct hit by Irma. Later Monday, he visited the hospital in the capital Philipsburg and a school that is being used as a co-ordination centre for distributing aid. Willem-Alexander also...

This is raw footage of my wife, mother in law and I traveling from SXM airport to Riu Palace Hotel in Sint Maarten few months before hurricane Irma. Initially I scrapped this footage as "lame" from what I pieced together for my youtube videos. However, after what happened, I decided to upload this as now there is no telling how this beautiful island is going to recover, and what if it will look like. It may never be the same again...Reminisce.

Scenic St. Maarten had a crime scene on its hands. Mientje, our 11 year old black cat, caught a gecko out on the balcony: the poor critter had no chance. Nature's garbage men took care of the rest. As a tribute to one of our favorite series, we spoofed Law & Order. Chung Chung! More about our rescue cats on the channel of Scenic St. Maarten: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6p642hp8Ufk

The Red Cross Sint Maarten has been going into the different communities ever since hurricane Irma hit. Through their effort thousands of supplies have been distributed to those in need, especially the elderly and pregnant women. Through house-to-house distribution, volunteers make sure no one goes without basic supplies, such as water, food, hygiene kits. Red Cross volunteer Travin Joseph says he has seen the country pick up speed already: “Keep the faith, because I know we can pull through this as soon as possible.” #SXMSTRONG

Spent the last couple weeks in Sint Maarten after hurricane Irma. Here is a snippet of the work being done. Didn't get much video while I was there. There is tremendous devastation, however, the people there are committed to rebuilding their home. (12 Sep 2017) Hundreds of people across an island shared by Dutch St. Maarten and French St. Martin are trying to rebuild the lives they had before Hurricane Irma hit. Help was making it to the island, from the Dutch and French governments, other nations and private organizations. But many are struggling to maintain a semblance of the normality they had before Irma. "There's no food here. There's no water here," said 70-year-old Germania Perez. Adding to the stress of lack of food and shelter were reports of widespread looting by armed gangs. As night falls, residents hurry inside, fearful of robbers roaming the streets.
